Can I close up the can of worms?

Last year, I committed to making my mental health become a strength of mine and a competitive advantage in business terms. I knew that going down this path would open a can of worms.

The first question I ask every therapist is:

Once I open this can of worms, can I close it back up if I don’t like it?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Once you have awareness, you can’t.

It reminds me Neo in The Matrix.

The red pill represents an uncertain future — it would free him from the enslaving control of the machine-generated dream world and allow him to escape into the real world, but living the “truth of reality” is harsher and more difficult. On the other hand, the blue pill represents a beautiful prison — it would lead him back to ignorance, living in confined comfort without want or fear within the simulated reality of the Matrix.

Now that I have taken the red pill, I find it ever increasingly hard to go back to the vanilla world again. Things like meeting agendas, objectives and key results, project plans, and all things corporate seem so pointless.

In some way, we are living in The Matrix. All this busy work is designed to keep us occupied so…
